Tips for optimizing your portrait session

Whenever possible outdoor portrait sessions will be scheduled early morning or early evening to optimize the "golden light" periods of the day. If that's not convenient we'll be happy to see you whenever you and your pet are available. Your session may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather or illness but as much notice as possible will be appreciated.

When choosing your location please keep in mind that home is always a good choice especially for cats or shy dogs. Parks are a good choice. Dog parks are fine but remember your pet may be easily distracted. Wherever your pet will be the most comfortable and safe is a good choice. Your pet's safety is extremely important, unless we are in your yard they will need to be on a leash. The leash will be removed during the editing process.

Possible locations in the capital region:

Towasentaha Park

Washington Park

The Crossings of Colonie

Buckingham Lake Park

Pine Bush Preserve

There are many others and I would be happy to help with a choice.

You may want to have your pet groomed prior to the session or just give them a good brushing. Just as you want to look your best for portraits I'm sure your pet does too.

It's always a good idea to take your dog for a nice long walk before the session. A smaller meal prior to the session would be helpful - a hungry pet will be more inclined to behave for treats.

Props, special outfits, favorite toys can be included but are not necessary.

Your pet's safety is the number one priority. You must be present for the entire session.
